Suzuki Shokan started its business in 1905 and has subsequently been a leader in the industrial gas business for over a century. One of the strengths of Suzuki Shokan is its pioneering spirit. We started the industrial gas business in Japan where no one else had even heard of it. Suzuki Shokan has played a key developmental role in the medical gas field, welding and cutting industries, and many other high-technology areas including the semiconductor industry. We also expanded our business in the chemical field where no other gas companies had even an interest in. We then pioneered the cryogenics field at a time when little was known about the subject in Japan. As a part of gas business, we became involved in the air conditioning refrigerant business. It’s an area where environmental issues are critical and lessening the environmental load is our major interest as well.
The most recent topic is the hydrogen business. We see so many new applications and opportunities in the area today. We have been building metal hydride PCT properties measuring equipment for various laboratories for long time as well as delivering hydrogen gas. We have also introduced hydrogen fork lift fueling stations. Our system is to combine photovoltaic power generation and electrolysis that produces hydrogen economically. We believe that this station is a sophisticated hydrogen supplying system that will expand a usage of hydrogen energy in various areas.
Based on such pioneering spirit, we will continue striving development of new businesses.
The most important thing that we do at Suzuki Shokan is to serve our society and promote its growth and prosperity. The main objective of our business is not just a high profit margin, but continuously improving ourselves and our business practices in order to better serve our customers and the world around us. My idea of a successful company is one that pleases everyone, customers, employees, shareholders and people in the society. We should strive to keep our customers and employees satisfied, and reinvest in the business to insure long-term success. A high profit margin is not our goal but the means to continue our serving customers and the society. We also try to make our company a pleasant place to work. Employees are more productive and perform better when they feel that work is fun, like playing sports or games.
At Suzuki Shokan we strive to achieve such objectives through innovation and cooperation.
